Latest news

Hi Friends,
How are you? I have seen on the news that in most of the European countries, it is very cold with snow in some regions. Good luck. Here it is the other way around, it is SO HOT again around 35 degres everyday. It is difficult to go out at lunch time the sun is so strong. I know what you might think but it is true it is a bit too hot even if I'd rather be here than under the wind and snow!
My WE was very nice, went out with friends to dance coupe decalle. I was also invited to other friends for a brunch on sunday. I spent sometime at the swimmimg pool in my residence, it was so nice. I really enjoy my time since I am back from Paris. I have met new people, very nice ones.
Concerning the situation of the country, it is very quiet which is scary because actually the peace process is totally frozen! The Special Representative of the Secretary General, Mr. Pierre Schori, the head of the mission here, announced yesterday that he is living Cote d'Ivoire!!!!! We do not know who will replace him...Affaire a suivre comme disent les Ivoiriens. It seems that the mission will last forever and it will take a LONG time before the return of a sustainable peace in Cote d'Ivoire...We are trying anyway ;)
Bisous a tous

Back in Abidjan

Honey Bunnies,
First of all ,I wish you all a wonderful year 2007.
Hope you all had wonderful celebrations for Xmas and New Year Eve. Mine were great. Paris was sooooo nice just wanted to stay there snif snif. Was happy to spend time with my friends and family especially Aiss Cream who was back from Montreal, you rock! Thanks for the nice presents maman, you rock too Funky Suze!
I ate like a pig, tons of smoked salmon on toasted blinis, crepes of course and chocolates. Now I can fell it in my clothes! This morning I almost could not close the zipper of my trousers! I will have to seriously work out.
I am back in Abidjan the situation is calm but volatile. It is winter time "Hivernage" now. It means that the temperature is lower around 27 degrees. I know it is still hot but for here it is fresh especially at nite around 23 degrees. For once I do not need to put the air conditionning to sleep, Yay! It is weird cos there is no sun at all and a thick fog because of the Harmattan (a dry wind coming from the North). The air is very dry, we can fell it on our skin, eyes, throat and there is dust everywhere. I cannot leave the windowns open at home cos of the dust. It is a bit depressing!
Apart from that, the trash dump of Akouedo (the biggest of the city) is closed again, people are requesting compensation following the scandal of the dumping of the toxic wastes last August. The whole city of Abidjan has started to become again a HUGE TRASH CAN. There is rubbish all over the city, it smells a lot, eek! It is the perfect environment for the transmission of diseases such as typhoid fever and cholera, Aiss Cream you would love it, a natural lab for your manipulations with concrete cases. It is so sad seriously and nobody is doing anything.....
Have nice day.
Kisses and hugs
